Kushe Aaunsi, Pitri Tirpani Aaunsi or Gokarne Aaunsi is a Father’s Day festival in Nepal. This is a special day to pay homage to all the fathers for their love and care towards their children throughout their life. On this day, children see their dad, spend quality time and worship by offering delicacies, sweets and gifts. Children living abroad pay respect online through video calls and phone calls.
As a result, this day is known as “Buwa ko mukh herne din” which means “a day to see father’s face.” However, Mukh herne also means to accept someone as kin, to appreciate someone, or to acknowledge someone’s accomplishment. People who have already lost their father also pay homage to the deceased father spiritually by performing Sraddha or Pinda Daan.
You won’t be here today without the sacrifice of your father.
